Overview

[edit | edit source]

Gaia Station is a large-scale project developed by Sault Labs, currently under development on the far side of the Moon. The goal is to develop a long-term solution for interstellar human habitation. The project is funded by the Sault Family (Iyò), specifically due to the work of Dr. Edward Sault, a physicist and visionary. His work on fusion energy has spearheaded the Gaia station project and other off-world projects.

Description

[edit | edit source]

Gaia Station is a massive habitat, circular in design, that allows Gaia Station to spin, generating its own gravity. The station has 3 distinct sections. The central section, simply called the node, is where many of the core navigational and propulsion systems are placed. The node is a circular disk that has a diameter of 900 yards and a depth of three stories. At the center of this disk is the core. The core is protected by a tungsten/orichalcum alloy approximately 6-9 feet thick. The core itself is a SL.v3 Fusion reactor developed by Sault Labs. Additionally, the roots of a large, genetically modified tree surround the central node.

The node has three concentric circles built around it. The first ring is 96 meters wide, with the following rings at 66 and 36 meters. The modules that make up these rings are modular and variable. Some are scientific and research-based. Others are recreational zones, and habitats are spaced incrementally around the first and second rings. The third ring is reserved for scientific, defense modules, cargo, and other auxiliary functions.

The Rings

[edit | edit source]

Ring 1

[edit | edit source]

The first ring of Gaia station is 96 meters wide and contains chambers and pods that are modular in nature. These pods are the primary components for habitats and other utilities. These pods are uniform on their exteriors to maintain modular synchronicity, but the internal mechanisms are customized to their purpose. Most of the habitats intended for human beings living day-to-day are located within this first ring and have life support systems embedded in each. These pods also have an ejection feature that allows any piece to be jettisoned to save the rest of the station if need be.

Ring 2

[edit | edit source]

The second ring is like the first, but with additional features for scientific research and recreation placed at incremental intervals along the ring. This ring also includes observation decks, space labs, storage components, and other modules for anything the station needs. There are also special modules for medical emergencies, for farming, and a special unit for synthesizing proteins for meat.
