Overview
[edit | edit source]Founded in West Africa and named for the salt-rich mines of its founder, the Sault family carries that history and value within their name. Table salt is a staple worldwide and essential for humanity. Very few families have held wealth for as long as the Sault family. In fact, no family has had the continuous wealth as the Saults. That wealth has shaped how the family interacts with the world. Most of its members prefer to remain anonymous. Remaining unknown and wealthy for so long has allowed them to become masters of maintaining the secrecy.
Traditionally, the Saults have had major political influence all over the world, and their financial empire has vastly diversified. Still, the salt industry has remained a primary source of family income. Part of the financial income and modern family power comes from the founding of the Sault Bank. Originally conceived in the late 1800's, the modern family members who are known have been on the board of the Sault Bank.
The Sault family is the smallest in number of all magical families. And the smallest of all the ancient bloodlines that can be effectively traced back in antiquity with any kind of certainty.
The Modern Family
[edit | edit source]The oldest direct male heir of the families founder, Abbas Sault, is considered the head of the Sault family. Thus, this eldest male heir controls the entirety of the Sault family empire. Currently, Isaac Gerald Sault is the modern patriarch of the family. Married to Beryl Sault, he has three surviving children with his wife. Their names are Sandra Sault, Sonya Sault, and Victoria Sault. His brother, John Luther Sault is the current "next in line" to the family empire should something happen to his brother. John "a.k.a", Luther Sault has no children nor is he married.
In the modern affairs of the Sault's, each of the members has a "specialty" of some sort. An area that they have some kind of mastery in.

The Sault family is forever tied to the industry they derive their name from. The very first Sault family mine being in a hidden location in West Africa. Since that first one, the family has acquired and developed similar mines all over the region. Those holdings increased for two centuries and through several business transactions, the family began to expand their trade into fishing, transportation of cargo, precious metals, and into virtually any form of business that could be thought of. That influence and wealth allowed the family to survive many revolutions, hostile take overs, and even colonization of Africa by European countries.
After African colonialism, the Sault Family gradually moved itself to the America's leaving a handful of members to manage and maintain the historical family mines. Those left behind have survived to the modern day and have kept the mines location secret for nearly 2,600 years.

The Early Family
[edit | edit source]The Sault family, like the Moore Family, can trace their origins back to West Africa. The patriarch of the Saults created one of the first salt mines anywhere in the world. Hence, the family name "Sault". This, of course, made the family very wealthy. Only Mansa Musa could claim wealth greater than this family, as the Sault family salt mine has been productive for nearly 2,500 years.
The phrase worth its weight in salt comes from the value that salt has, as it's essential for food preservation.
The Blacksault Family
[edit | edit source]The Blacksault Family is a sub-branch of the Sault family that derives their name from the original family and the expansion into mining Kala Namak, otherwise known as black salt. The first to take up the name Blacksault would be Jensin Blacksault and his wife, Amira Blacksault. The exact year this subdivision occurred is unknown, but the Blacksault family has existed for at least 1,900 years.
